friday musings

ramble time:

i love banana chips.  not sure when this happened, but DAMN i love those things.

i don't think fruit and chocolate should mate.  there are exceptions but general rule of thumb... no thanks.
oh and fruit and coffee should keep a safe distance as well.

i wanted to be an archaeologist when i was little.  well, a paleontologist but then changed my mind quickly when i realized i had to go on an airplane.  fast forward 20 or so and my first time in an airplane is an open cockpit bi-plane.  quite the leap huh?

the color red is like a shiny object to me.  i see something red and automatically stop.
wait, what was i saying?

can i get a life-sized one of this to live in?

vacation

hellooooo (said like the belly on seinfeld).

took a little break.  went on a mini-vacation for my birthday.  yes, i am finally 21.  (22?  27?  ok, ok!  32 and that's my final answer)

well, went to VA.  stayed w/ my best friend and her family.  stalked robert duvall (i mean, accidentally ate  my bday dinner at the rest. near his ranch and then proceeded to keep an eye out for his vehicle), went to a KISS concert (yes, i like to rock and roll all night (in my pjs, watching the daily show) and party every day (or go to work.  same thing right?).  let me just say... for a bunch of old guys, they seriously still do kick ass.  and how does paul stanley keep his hair so shiny and fluffy?  it's seriously beautiful hair!  he and darryl hall (have i lost all street cred for my outstanding taste in music?).  they  both have they most luxuriously manageable hair.  i am jealous.

so, my last day of vacay is here at home, working on photos, doing a shoot and my laundry and eating a truffle.  yes, a nice smooth milk chocolately truffle.  please feel free to send me some more for a belated bday present.

discussion on...

favorite thing about the opposite sex (physically).

i said mouths.  well, a smile to be exact.  the best smile is that involuntary reflex that happens when you walk into the room.  now, i know some people may disagree and get more *ahem* but i am sticking w/ the real smile.

leads me to my favorite poem though, all this talk of body parts and reactions.

i like my body when it is with your
body. It is so quite new a thing.
Muscles better and nerves more.
i like your body. i like what it does,
i like its hows. i like to feel the spine
of your body and its bones, and the trembling
-firm-smooth ness and which i will
again and again and again
kiss, i like kissing this and that of you,
i like, slowly stroking the, shocking fuzz
of your electric fur, and what-is-it comes
over parting flesh ... And eyes big love-crumbs,

and possibly i like the thrill

of under me you so quite new   - ee cummings

My BOGO was a NOGO

i TRIED, i swear, to do a 2-for.

i was just watching a presentation.  it's informative.  slightly interesting.  nice presenters.  BUT i notice two spelling errors on the main menu.  keeps popping up, almost like in 3d to me.  main menu BAM that's all i see.  YOU ARE MISSING AN "N"!! is on a constant loop in my head.  THAT "I" SHOULD BE AN "A" over and over.  i wanted to pass a note, a la ele. school, and say "circle yes or no if you want me to correct your spelling?"  it was such an LL moment (liz lemon).  staring, eating my cookie... almost wanting to shove another cookie in my mouth just to stifle the small cries of "please please please fix your menu!!"  one person is trying to ask me to grab her a cookie in her own little sign language that really turned into her hands making a circle then immediately going into ROAR monster face.  circle + ROAR = cookie monster.  sad thing?  i understood.

then, i keep thinking about that scene in stepbrothers at the job interview when dale slowly pops out from behind brennen and waves.  i really really really wanted to do that.  and i know the co-worker in front of me knew what i was thinking.  but i refrained.  it was tough, but i managed.

all of this in the sleepy conference room.  sleepy because it's dimly lit, usually a monotone meeting in there, big comfy chairs... i've never fallen asleep anywhere outside of a home or long car ride but i swear, that room could cure insomniacs.  i should rent it out and make a little extra cash w/ my "sleep bar" in there.

BOGO

going to get a two-for-one deal today.  first up.

THIS is the reason i am usually 4 minutes late to work.  instead of going to bed at a normal time and waking up bright eyed and blah blah blah.. i choose to sit up and work on photos or watch cheers reruns (ohh how i do love a good sam and diane episode) then in the morning think "5 more minutes won't hurt..." and then it's 5 more 5 more.  check my email, look at new work online, write a blog...  check the time and say OH SHIT, I HAVE TO LEAVE IN 10 MINUTES.  throw on the first shirt i find (hopefully not my "more cowbell" shirt) and rush out the door.  whilst driving like a speed racer, i decide i need coffee on the way.  then pull in and think - man if i just would have gotten up at a normal time.

someday i will learn.

Stuck in my head this morning

almost!

almost forgot to write today.

well, working on new photos.  (shameless self-promotion, check out my bubblesite - www.clancy214.redbubble.com)
anywho!

i always wished i could draw.  that was one thing i tried and tried and wish i could do.  but seriously - never got better than a stick figure in a shoulder padded dress.  then i tried to paint.  looked like a baby monkey (yeah baby, not even an adult) got a hold of some paint brushes.  i've always wanted to let you see how i see things.  then a couple of years ago i broke down and bought a digital camera (always had disposable or 35 mm).  haven't put it down since.  old abandoned buildings, skylines on the mountain, sunlight peaking thru the trees, people's candid reactions and interactions w/ people.  it's like a permanent appendage.

i've even nicknamed the newest camera.  lumie.  really original since it's a lumix huh?

trying to

so, i'm trying to write one everyday so i am still considering this my saturday post.

well let's see...
a photo shoot today, one tomorrow, a show w/ the band tonight...  did you ever get to the point where you have a night free and you can't stop thinking "shouldn't i be doing something?".  I can't shake the MUST BE BUSY feeling.  it's gotten to the point where i can't even remember conversations and who i had them with.  hence me always repeating myself.  (apologies in advance if and when i repeat on here).  so what's the happy medium between burned out and couch potato?  should try to get some sleep.

g'night everyone!

Music Obsession - Current (well one of my current ones)

I am absolutely obsessed w/ the Mumford and Sons album Sigh No More.  If you haven't heard it, i recommend "White Blank Page."  They are a great mix of folk, rock and alt.  Banjos, upright bass and an intense vocal.  The lyrics break your heart and/or make you bounce around and interpretive dance.  Yup, you will interpretive dance.  Is that really a selling point though?  To me it is.  The songs usually start out w/ this quiet haunting but build up to this point where all hell  breaks loose.  I could go on and on but i will reserve that for another time.

let me know what you think.

Beep Beep

Woke up this morning to a full blown Time Life commercial of all 80's cheese pop playing in my head.  Billy Ocean, Rick Astley...  even Richard Marx and his remarkable  mullet made an appearance.

I contemplated putting the link to the never ending "Never Gonna Give You Up" video, but then thought, could i really do that to anyone who reads this today?  YES! was my first reaction, but quite frankly, i don't feel like looking it up.  So my laziness says "you're welcome."

Ok, so if anyone wants to... post your favorite 80's cheese song and i promise i will not laugh uncontrollably and post it all over the web.  it's our secret.  :)  I swear.  No fingers are even crossed.

first blog

ok, so this is my first blog.  officially.  i guess.  i mean i tried it out once before but then i forgot how to log in and gave up.  :)  welcome to my randomness.
So, at the suggestion of my friend Ang, i am trying it out again.
there will be
  • book suggestions and reviews (watch out, i like 'em weird)
  • random questions and nonsense running thru my head
  • opinions on music, movies, coffee, cheese....  whatever.  *warning, there will be sarcasm along the way*
well...  my first order of business - i miss recess.  i miss that break in the day when you could roll down a hill, giggle about boys and trade scratch n' sniff stickers.  i want to play wiffleball and chew blueberry hubba bubba.  *sigh*  i want to go to the library and check out dr. seuss books and watch film strips (uh oh, did i just let on to how old i am?).  oh cat from outer space... you were such a treat in my slap bracelet and punky brewster high tops.
